Abstract

Pompa sentrifugal di sebuah industri pembangkit listrik tenaga air (PLTA) Cirata mengalami kegagalan erosi-korosi. Erosi-korosi merupakan jenis korosi akibat adanya gabungan antara sebuah aliran fluida abrasif dengan reaksi elektrokimia. Pompa ini berfungsi untuk mengosongkan air yang ada didalam turbin, dimana air waduk memiliki pH 6-7, Total Suspended Solid (TSS) sebesar 48.15 mg/L serta indeks korosivitas -0.74. Ditemukan kasus dimana pompa mempunyai umur 10 tahun operasi dengan pola operasi kerja 8 jam pertahun. Kemungkinan penyebab kasus ini antara lain kesalahan dalam operasi, buruknya kualitas air waduk dan sebagainya. Belum ada upaya dari perusahaan untuk mencari penyebab dari kegagalan ini. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan melakukan pengamatan pada kondisi lingkungan kerja dari pompa dewatering, pengamatan secara visual, melakukan pengujian struktur mikro, pengujian komposisi kimia, pengujian Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) dan Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), pengujian kekerasan brinell. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa kegagalan yang terjadi pada impeller pompa dewatering adalah erosi-korosi, serta kesalahan dalam keadaan kondisi lingkungan air waduk menjadi penyebab kegagalan impeller pada PLTA Cirata ini.rnrnCentrifugal pumps in an industrial power plant water (PLTA) on Cirata failure of erosion-corrosion. Erosion-corrosion is a type of corrosion due to the combination of an abrasive fluid flow with electrochemical reactions. This pump serves to keep the water in the water reservoir, where the turbine has a pH of 6-7, TSS of 48.15 mg/L as well as index korosivitas-0.74. Found cases where the pump has 10 years of operation with operation work 8 hours in 1 time usage. Possible causes of these cases among other election material selection mistakes in pump impeller, errors in operation, poor quality of water reservoirs and so on. There hasn't been an effort of the company to find the cause of this failure. This research was conducted by doing the observations on the conditions of the working environment of the pumps dewatering, observation visually, perform testing, testing the micro-structure of chemical composition, testing, SEM EDS, brinell hardness testing. From the results it can be concluded that a failure occurred on the dewatering pump impeller is erosion-corrosion, as well as errors in the selection of the material of the impeller into the cause of the failure of impeller on PLTA Cirata.
